Cinnamon is a spice found in the dried inner bark of Cinnamomum trees. These trees typically bloom in the Summer and thrive in full sun and warm climates (average of 80 degrees fahrenheit).
According to Essential Oils (Neal’s Yard Remedies) by Susan Curtis, Cinnamon is native to Sri Lanka and is named for its medium brown color. This plant is also a part of the Laurel family, which is made up of close to 3,000 species, including avocado and bay leaves.

Medicinal Uses
Cinnamon is great for aches and pains. Look to cinnamon to soothe sore joints year-round but especially during the colder months. This plant also aids digestion. Cinnamon can help relieve constipation and stomach cramps/aches. Cinnamon also serves as a phenomenal antiseptic when it comes to fighting bacteria, viruses and parasites.
Cinnamon also makes for a great “pick-me-up”, as it can counter depression and exhaustion through aromatherapy.
